"After four years and a half, my mission as Ambassador of Romania to the Republic of Azerbaijan has come to an end. More than four years have passed since then and in the meantime, I have gathered countless meaningful experiences in Azerbaijan. These were momentous years, each dotted by important landmarks testifying of the rapid pace of development of the country – the opening of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, the birth of Azerbaijan’s 10th-million citizen, the inauguration of the Southern Gas Corridor, or the glorious and historic year 2020," Romanian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Dan Iancu said, Report informs.
“All along, the Strategic Partnership between Romania and Azerbaijan has grown in strength, and the bonds of friendship between our nations – ever deeper,” he noted.
“I am leaving Baku with very pleasant and warm memories, which I will always carry in my mind and my heart. During my stay in Azerbaijan I have discovered a fascinating country with rich history and culture, with ancient and beautiful traditions, a country with a modern outlook which looks confidently to the future. Above all, I have discovered the amazing people of Azerbaijan – warm, hospitable, kind, always willing to help. It has been truly an honor and a privilege serving in Azerbaijan,” he added.
Romanian Ambassador Dan Iancu completed his diplomatic mission in Azerbaijan. He headed the Romanian diplomatic mission in the country since October 2016.
It was earlier reported that Vasile Soare, who headed the Romanian diplomatic mission in Russia from 2014 to 2020, was nominated as a candidate for the post of Romanian Ambassador to Azerbaijan.
