President: Azerbaijan - reliable country which respects its obligations

Fruitful cooperation between Azerbaijan and European Commission has played an important role in the implementation of the Southern Gas Corridor (SGC) and will play an important role in implementing Azerbaijan's future plans, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said at the opening of the Baku Energy Week.

"We are in permanent contact with European Commission on that. As a result of discussions which took place in the beginning of February this year in Baku between Energy Commissioner of EU and our minister of energy, we established Energy Dialogue between EU and Azerbaijan. It includes such issues as oil and gas, at the same time, electricity, renewables, hydrogen and energy effective."

He noted that Azerbaijan has proved itself as a reliable country which respects its obligations:

"Since 1994, when the first PSA contract was signed with foreign companies, not a single word was changed in the contract. And that is also a demonstration of our position. We respect our obligations and also want our partners to respect their obligations."

The head of state also noted the political and economic stability in Azerbaijan:

He added that the construction of new infrastructure, huge potential and experience play an important role in attracting major energy companies to investing in renewables.
