Committee Chairman of Pakistan Senate : We condemn Armenia's military aggression against Azerbaijan Baku. 18 January. Committee Chairman of Pakistan Senate : We condemn Armenia's military aggression against Azerbaijan

Baku. 18 January. REPORT.AZ/ Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan hosted an event “From Independence to Martyrdom" on the occasion of the 29th anniversary of January 20- National Day of Mourning, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Senate, Chairman of the Azerbaijan-Pakistan Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group Talha Mahmood spoke at the event organized by the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Pakistan.

He noted that Azerbaijan gained its independence thanks to the heroism of 20 January martyrs, Azerbaijan: "Pakistan always has a brotherly attitude towards independent Azerbaijan, condemns Armenia's aggression and defends the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan from all rostrums."

Recalling his visit to Azerbaijan Mahmood noted that while visiting Alley of Martyrs he understood better the roles of 20 January martyrs, as well as other martyrs, who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of Azerbaijan, in the bloody memory of the people. He also witnessed how Azerbaijan developed in socio -economic, infrastructure, energy and other areas under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev.

He stressed the importance of benefiting from Azerbaijan's experience in the field of energy exploration in Pakistan.

Azerbaijani ambassador to Pakistan Ali Alizade noted that besides being the commemoration day of the martyrs, 20 January- the National Day of Mourning is also a honorary page of Azerbaijani history.

Ambassador he noted that USSR's ethnic discrimination policy had reached its peak in 1987, adding that this political line and Armenia’s territorial claims against Azerbaijan increased tensions in the region, while the Azerbaijani people demanded the resignation of the then Azerbaijani leadership  and putting an end to the Armenian cruelty against Azerbaijanis.

The ambassador noted that Azerbaijani and Pakistani people always honor the memory of their martyrs and commemorate them.
