PACE adopts resolution on national minorities

Strasbourg. 25 January. REPORT.AZ/ The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) has adopted a resolution on promotion of national minorities' rights.

Western European bureau of Report informs that, in line with the resolution, the protection of national minorities is of great importance in ensuring the equality of people, protecting the social and political stability, as well as the security of democracy, the development of cultural diversity in Europe. The Assembly once again urged the member-states to study the needs of national minorities and to resolve their problems, to ensure all rights, including the rights set forth in the Convention.

The Assembly reiterates its commitment to the member-states to ratify the Convention on National Minorities even if national minorities do not live in their territory.
