OSCE Chairperson: South Caucasus region is important for security in Europe

Baku. 1 June. REPORT.AZ/ "The South Caucasus region is important for Europe from the point of security." Report informs, OSCE Chairperson in Office, Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dačić said at a press conference after a meeting with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister, Elmar Mammadyarov.

I.Dačić stressed that the issue of territorial integrity is important for Serbia.

Speaking about the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, OSCE Chairperson said that the parties must demonstrate the political will to resolve the conflict: "Along with this, the parties must comply with the conditions prescribed by the ceasefire agreement. I believe that, the principles arising from the outcome document of the Helsinki Final Act, to be considered in resolving the conflict," - Ivica Dačić said .

In turn, Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov, commenting on the results of his meeting with I. Dačić, said that the bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Serbia are at a high level. The countries have developed extensive ties in the political, economic and humanitarian spheres. According to him, the ministers also discussed the simplification of the visa regime with Serbia, the development of energy cooperation.

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister informed the Ivica Dačić about the regulation of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. During the meeting Azerbaijan requested the OSCE Chairperson to raise during his visit to Yerevan.the issue of return of Azerbaijani hostages seized in Kelbajar region of Azerbaijan.

OSCE Chairperson will visit Georgia on June 2 and to Armenia on June 3.
