"Over the past 30 years, military expense has increased several times in the world. However, social spending has dropped," UN Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan, Ghulam Isakzai said.
Report informs that he spoke at the 5th World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue under the motto "Building dialogue into action against discrimination, inequality and violent conflict.”
According to him, the number of poor population is about 3 billion in the world: "They live on $ 2.5 per a day. We should take responsibility to solve this problem. This forum is essential for the formation of peacekeeping societies."
UNESCO Director-General for Social and Human Sciences Nada Al-Nashif stressed that non-inclusive societies are usually weaker: "Therefore, it is important to make serious changes in people's minds. Our mission is to instill progress to the people in the changing world. The UN will further strengthen diplomacy and dialogue. Unfortunately, we also hear that some of the programs are unsuccessful. We need to mobilize young women with new skills especially in the areas where resistance and conflict reign. Young people need social support. So we have to instill people at an early age that cultural diversity is necessary. "
