May 28 declared Azerbaijan Republic Day in Illinois

Jay Robert (J.B.) Pritzker, the governor of Illinois, US, signed a declaration proclaiming May 28, 2023, as the Azerbaijan Republic Day in the state, Report informs.

The statement addressed to the members of the Azerbaijan Center of Midwest America (ACMA) mentions the successful activities of the organization, which has been operating since April 15, 2015.

The proclamation states that Azerbaijani Americans within the Chicago community contribute to the city's cultural and economic development, regional diversity, intercultural understanding, as well as peace and prosperity in various fields.

The document states that Azerbaijan, one of the first nation-states to grant universal suffrage, is an ally and strategic partner of the United States. All Azerbaijanis living all over the world celebrate May 28 as the Republic Day of Azerbaijan. The governor called on the residents of the state to join in observing this day together with Azerbaijanis.
