The Indonesian Embassy together with the Malaysian Embassy in Baku has held an event dedicated to the 56th anniversary of the founding of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), Report informs.
Opening the event at the Malaysian Embassy, Mardiana Mohamed Rohani, Charge d’ Affaires ad interim (CDA a.i), noted that ASEAN has now grown into a vibrant and increasingly integrated economic region, and stronger socio-cultural community.
The ASEAN economy is expected to grow at 4.7 percent this year and 5 percent in 2024, propelled by strong domestic consumption, net exports, and accelerated recovery in services, she said.
“Being the only ASEAN countries with Embassies based in Baku, Malaysia and the Republic of Indonesia remain committed to explore the potential cooperation as well as to promote exchanges in various fields of mutual interests between the Republic of Azerbaijan and its region with ASEAN. Azerbaijan has also expanded its cooperation with ASEAN following its acceptance as an observer member of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) in November 2022,” she added.
