Leyla Abdullayeva: Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry is investigating a trip of the separatist regime 'representative' to Moscow

"We are currently investigating media reports about the trip of the representative of the illegal regime, created in Armenia’s occupied Nagorno-Karabakh region of Azerbaijan, Masis Mayilian to the Russian capital. Thus, the information on who the 'representative' of the illegal regime met and what events he attended as part of this 'visit' is being clarified," Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Leyla Abdullayeva said.

“But you know, in diplomacy there is no practice of announcing in advance that a foreign ambassador will be summoned to the Foreign Ministry on a particular issue. This is a serious step, and it is necessary to prepare thoroughly, first of all, by collecting relevant verified information. The announcement about summoning an ambassador is made after the ambassador visited the Foreign Ministry. My observations suggest that some journalists are trying to raise an unreasonable hype on this issue. Nevertheless, I believe that in order to clarify the situation by showing professional approach, it is primarily necessary to address the Foreign Ministry press service. On our part, we respond to all requests, of course, after gathering more information.

"As for the specific position of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which you mentioned in your question, I would like to emphasize that the Azerbaijani side’s approach to the entry of 'representatives' of the illegal puppet regime into the territory of foreign states is unified and equally applies to all such cases. The issue of territorial integrity and sovereignty within the framework of the internationally recognized borders of Azerbaijan is extremely important for all of us and for all our people," Abdullayeva said.
