Report informs, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said at a press conference in Moscow after a meeting with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov.

He said that relations between the two countries "are based on traditions of friendship and mutual respect."

According to Lavrov, meeting of foreign ministers discussed a schedule of upcoming bilateral contacts, including highest level meetings: "We have noted the ongoing development of inter-parliamentary, inter-institutional relations, have discussed trade-economic and investment issues."

According to him, volume of trade turnover between the two countries amounted to $2 bln in 2016.

It is also planned to issue envelope marking the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations.
