Khalil Cisse: I thank President Ilham Aliyev for initiatives within NAM presidency

President of the NIDEM Center (a new initiative for the development of Mali) Khalil Cisse has expressed gratitude to the people of Azerbaijan and in particular to President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev for the initiatives that he put forward within the country’s chairmanship in the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM).

“Through platforms such as NAM, African countries can develop, their voice can be heard. When we talk about multilateralism, we mean cooperation among countries, through which we can achieve many goals. The movement is a very important platform where the problems of African countries can be dealt with effectively,” he told Report.

Cisse explained that if the topic of globalization is taken, few in Africa understand what it is. The expert added that in such a huge process as globalization, the role of African countries is only to supply raw materials.

“African countries are aware that globalization itself hinders their development. For development, we need equal partners who will respect us and be ready for open and equal cooperation,” he said.

From this point of view, the principles of NAM are important, as they ensure equality and brotherhood among the participating countries, he noted.
