Baku. 19 February. REPORT.AZ/ "The Caspian countries enjoy relations of friendship and cooperation, mutual respect and trust, as well as respect for the sovereignty of countries. Signing the Caspian Convention was possible thanks to this," Khalaf Khalafov, the Chief of the Staff of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the representative of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the High-Level Working Group for the Caspian Sea said at the opening of the First meeting of the High-Level Working Group on the Caspian Sea in Baku.
Khalafov noted that the parties continue to work months after signing the historic Caspian convention: "There is progress, some changes have been made, which we will discuss during the meeting of the first working group. Countries have signed a document that ensures stability in the region. This stability in the Caspian basin can be regarded as an example for the whole world."
According to Khalafov, during the meeting, participants will determine the procedure for the activity of the working group, discuss ratification of the Convention on the basis of the legislation of each country. The methodology for establishing direct baselines in the Caspian Sea to determine territorial waters will also be discussed.
