Kakha Kuchava: Georgian-Azerbaijani relations are of strategic importance

"Azerbaijan-Georgia relations have always been of strategic importance to both countries. These relations are the result of the national interests of two nations," Kakha Kuchava, the Deputy Speaker of the Georgian Parliament and head of the Georgian-Azerbaijani inter-parliamentary relations working group, Report informs.

According to him, Azerbaijan-Georgia relations are of strategic importance.

"I would like to note that Azerbaijan is our strategic partner. Georgia has close relations and active cooperation with the country at both executive and parliamentary levels. The Georgian and Azerbaijani peoples are linked by historical friendship, and ethnic Azeri citizens are an important part of our society. Bilateral relations between the countries are developing dynamically, which is very important when maintaining and developing economic stability in the region.

Given the recent developments, we believe that negotiations are the only alternative for peace - that is why Prime Minister Gakharia called on both sides of the conflict and offered Tbilisi as a place for dialogue between the opposing parties. Peace is a necessary precondition for the development of our people and countries," Kakha Kuchava said.

"We have very important economic relations with Azerbaijan, which is an important strategic partner," said Isco Dasen, a member of the Sector Economy and Economic Policy Committee of the Parliament.

"We have significant trade and economic relations with Azerbaijan, especially in energy. Most of the fuel imports come from Azerbaijan. We cooperate not only in energy, but most of the agricultural products come from Azerbaijan, and vice versa, agricultural products, including wine, get exported to Azerbaijan.

I hope that trade and economic relations will deepen in the future and will bring additional economic benefits to both sides," said Isco Dasen.

In addition to large-scale joint economic projects, Azerbaijan and Georgia unconditionally support each other's territorial integrity.
