John Kerry: We support role of Azerbaijan in ensuring European energy security

Baku. 27 May. REPORT.AZ/ US Secretary of State John Kerry sent a congratulatory letter on the occasion of May 28- the Republic Day.

Report informs referring to RIA Novosti, it is noted in the letter that Azerbaijan plays a special role in ensuring Europe's energy security and the US supports the efforts of official Baku in this direction.

Kerry writes that the Southern Gas Corridor is of great importance in terms of energy diversification in Europe: "We are continuing our strong support to Azerbaijan in this direction."

The letter notes that 97 years ago, the secular state was established in the Muslim world for the first time. Since 1991, Baku and Washington are cooperating to provide the independence of Azerbaijan.

In addition to the two countries' fight against terrorism, the partners also cooperate in ensuring regional and international security within the framework of the NATO mission in Afghanistan.

"The US continues efforts for a peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and supports for the principal of transnational threats and the establishment of the rule of law," the document says.
