Jeyhun Bayramov informs candidate for post of UNESCO director-general about regional situation

Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov informed Khaled El-Enany, Egypt's candidate for the post of director-general of the United Nations Education, Scientific, and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) about the destruction by Armenia of the Azerbaijani cultural heritage during the years of occupation, Azerbaijani MFA said in a statement on the minister’s meeting with El-Enany, Report informs.

Jeyhun Bayramov informed the delegation in detail about the regional situation in the post-conflict period and the history of the occupation of Azerbaijani lands by Armenia.

The minister emphasized that Baku has repeatedly made calls for about 20 years on the need to send a UNESCO mission to Azerbaijani territories to register the destruction caused by Armenia. However, Yerevan obstructed the organization of this mission, a fact that was also reflected in the UNESCO report for 2005.
