International community supports Azerbaijan's initiative and struggle

"Azerbaijan's fight against the coronavirus pandemic has once again shown that our country continues to be a global leader in this area. Because Azerbaijan, unlike some countries, did not shy away from fighting the pandemic. On the contrary, it contributed to the fight against the disease at all levels, even to the world. It was one of the first countries to promote international solidarity and cooperation to cope with the pandemic," Azerbaijani MP Vugar Isgandarov told Report.

According to him, President of Azerbaijan, Chairman of the Non-Aligned Movement Ilham Aliyev has made a number of global initiatives amid the raging pandemic:

"Among them are the Non-Aligned Movement Summit in May 2020 initiated by the President and the Special Session of the UN General Assembly at the level of Heads of State and Government in December 2020 with the support of more than 150 countries. However, if you remember, at the time of the introduction of coronavirus vaccines, some countries demonstrated 'vaccinated nationalism' and preferred inequality in vaccine distribution. Of course, this point could not escape the attention of the leader of Azerbaijan, a country that has has become a global power in the world. As a result, on March 2021, on behalf of the Non-Aligned Movement of Azerbaijan, the UN Human Rights Council unanimously adopted a resolution entitled 'Ensuring equal and universal access for all countries to vaccines.'"

Isgandarov said that the international community supports the initiative and struggle of the Azerbaijani leadership in this direction:

"When the whole world was fighting against this disease, Azerbaijan provided financial assistance to about 30 countries and sent a message to the world that it is possible to overcome this disease not alone but together. It is very encouraging that the draft resolution put forward by Azerbaijan was discussed at the 3rd Committee of the UN General Assembly (human rights and humanitarian) on November 18 and adopted through voting. Of course, all this shows once again that the leadership of Azerbaijan in the Non-Aligned Movement is continuing at a very high level and successfully."
