Indian delegate: Thousands in Mumbai live in slums

Thousands of people live in slums or have built homes along railway tracks in Mumbai, India, Celine D'cruz, representative of India's State Urban Planning Committee, said during the joint opening session of assemblies at the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku, Report informs.
She emphasized that solving these problems requires unity and timely decision‑making: "Conditions in poor countries' cities are tense. People have built homes under very difficult circumstances. From the topics discussed at WUF13, we will also draw conclusions for our country."
The Indian official stressed the importance of fair distribution of responsibilities between rich and poor nations: "If commitments are not shared properly, the issues discussed will not be implemented, because accessibility is not the same for wealthy and poor countries."
