Hikmat Hajiyev: "Our current relations correspond to the historical traditions of Azerbaijan and Russia"

The Russia-Azerbaijan Expert Council is of particular importance in developing relations between the two countries, Hikmat Hajiyev, Assistant to President of Azerbaijan - Head of the Foreign Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration, said at the meeting of the Russia-Azerbaijan Expert Council held on November 19, Report informs.

"Relations between Azerbaijan and Russia rest on historically deep roots. The friendship between our countries has the nature of strategic cooperation. This is very important for the provision of security in the South Caucasus," he said.

Hikmat Hajiyev noted that Azerbaijan had restored its territorial integrity by liberating its lands from occupation and ended the conflict. Speaking about the importance of the trilateral statement, the president's assistant added that Azerbaijan's victory would create a new reality in the region.

He stressed that the current relations correspond to the historical traditions of Azerbaijan and Russia, and the mutually active cooperation continues.

Underlining the significant role of the Council in deepening the Russia-Azerbaijan expert council, Hikmat Hajiyev expressed confidence that the third party will also join the cooperation of Azerbaijani and Russian experts.
