Georgian MFA: Such incidents do not comply with strategic relations between the two countries

The Foreign Ministry of Georgia has released a statement over the events in Keshikchidagh.

Report's Georgian bureau that, according to the statement, the incident on the Georgian-Azerbaijani border involving Georgian citizens at the David Gareji monastery complex does not meet the strategic relations of Georgia and Azerbaijan.

"Such incidents do not comply with the strategic partner relations, existing between our countries. Therefore, we consider that the meeting of expert groups and delimitation commissions must continue on time. All the same, it is important for the society to demonstrate maximal restraint to avoid provocations."

It should be noted that the Georgian ambassador to Azerbaijan was summoned to the Foreign Ministry to provide clarifications. The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry demanded from the opposite party to investigate this incident and take respective measures, as well as to inform the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan about the works done.
