Georgia’s Kommersant says Karabakh region is becoming an investment center

"The Karabakh region is becoming an investment center. Investors from Russia, Turkey, and other countries are looking to take advantage of Karabakh's investment climate," said an article in the Georgian business publication Kommersant (www.commersant.ge), entitled "Capital is channeled into Karabakh - what will be the investment potential of Sukhumi and Tskhinvali if the occupation ends," Report's local bureau informs.

The author noted that investors are ready to participate in various projects in Karabakh, from energy and industry to the agricultural sector.

The article also includes the opinion of former Georgian Minister of State for Peace and Civil Equality Paata Zakareishvili. According to him, Abkhazia has a large investment potential: "However, only after the settlement of the conflict, it is possible to talk about the development and economic progress of the occupied territories."

The expert stressed that Georgia has not yet seen any prospects for resolving the conflict: “Georgia is not doing anything about it. If you don't do anything, there will be no result."
