Report informs citing the Deutsche Welle that this is stated in a letter to the future head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, to Várhelyi.
According to von der Leyen, the European Commission should not only accelerate the implementation of the EU Association Agreement with Ukraine, but also "deepen sectoral cooperation where appropriate."
The future head of the EC expects from O. Várhelyi new political goals of the Eastern Partnership until mid-2020, as well as a whole deepening of the fight against corruption, strengthening the role of independent media and civil society.
Notably, the Eastern Partnership program was launched by the EU in 2009. Its main goal is the development of regional cooperation with six countries: Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine.
