Political dialogue between France and Azerbaijan is intensifying thanks to the high-level contacts.

Report informs, this was stated by French Ambassador to Azerbaijan Aurelia Bouchez said at a reception in honor of the National Day.

"The visit of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to Paris on July 20, 2018 and his meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron became a new step forward in the issue of bilateral cooperation. The foreign ministers of both countries also continue to meet frequently - they have already met twice since the beginning of this year, in January and May in Paris”, - the Ambassador said.

She also noted the important contribution of Azerbaijan to stability in the Caspian region due to the "multi-vector policy of the country."

A. Bouchez added that France, as co-chairman of the OSCE Minsk Group, is committed to a peaceful settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

In turn, Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Khalaf Khalafov congratulated France on the national holiday.

"We hope that France, as a co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group, will increase its efforts to resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict," Khalafov said. According to him, the current status quo on the conflict is unacceptable.

The deputy minister also noted that they are actively studying French in secondary and educational institutions of Azerbaijan. In particular, French is taught in 338 schools and 7 universities of Azerbaijan. In total, 50 thousand schoolchildren and 5 thousand university students learn French.
