Foreign Minister: Azerbaijan has friendly relations with all Jewish communities

Azerbaijan has traditional friendly relations with Jewish communities around the world, country's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said at a meeting with representatives of the Coalition of Jewish Organizations during a working visit to New York to participate in the high-level week of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly, the press service of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry told Report.

The meeting focused on the current state of cooperation with Jewish organizations operating in the United States, prospects and new opportunities for interaction, as well as the current situation in the region.

Bayramov stressed that Azerbaijan has traditional friendly relations with Jewish communities around the world and expressed the country's interest in further strengthening these ties and implementing new cooperation projects. At the same time, satisfaction was expressed with the high level of development of Azerbaijan's relations with American Jewish organizations and it was noted that the Jewish community of Azerbaijan has been peacefully coexisting in Azerbaijan for many years and is closely integrated into the Azerbaijani society.

The Minister also noted that tolerance and multiculturalism have historically existed in Azerbaijan, representatives of various faiths peacefully coexist in the country in peace and tranquility, numerous synagogues, schools, cultural centers operate, and confessional diversity occupies a special place in the social life of the country.

Bayramov informed the Coalition representatives about the recent situation in the region and the local anti-terrorist measures taken by Azerbaijan, and stressed the role of the Coalition in bringing the truth about the region to the American public.

At the meeting, the sides also discussed the prospects for the development of Azerbaijani-American relations and other issues of mutual interest.
