Azerbaijan is an ally, friend and biggest supplier of energy resources to the State of Israel, Israeli Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi said at the second meeting of the Israel-Azerbaijan mixed commission, held via videoconference, dedicated to the development of bilateral relations and trade between the two countries, Report informs.
“We will continue to work on the development of important relations with Azerbaijan and expand them in new areas,” the foreign minister said.
In turn, the Foreign Ministry added that the parties discussed ‘the possibility of Azerbaijan’s recognition of the Israeli certificate of vaccination against coronavirus and the resumption of tourist access to Azerbaijan.’
Israel and Azerbaijan have maintained diplomatic relations since 1992, but the Azerbaijani embassy in the Jewish state has not yet been opened. The Israeli diplomatic mission in Baku began work in 1993. The press service of the Foreign Ministry noted that the previous meeting of this bilateral commission took place in 2018.
