Event on 'Heydar Aliyev and Baikal-Amur Mainline' held in Moscow

An event on the topic of "The exceptional role of Heydar Aliyev in the construction of the Baikal-Amur Mainline (BAM), was held in Moscow on April 27, within the framework of the 100th anniversary of the birth of great leader Heydar Aliyev, at the initiative of the Digital Development and Transport Ministry of Azerbaijan and Azerbaijan Railways CJSC, with the joint organization of Russian Railways OJSC, the Russian University of Transport and the Azerbaijani Embassy in Russian Federation.

According to Report, a documentary, telling about Heydar Aliyev's contribution to the construction of BAM, was first shown at the event, organized at the Russian University of Transport.

Then, Azerbaijan's Minister of Digital Development and Transport Rashad Nabiyev spoke about the exceptional merits of the national leader of Azerbaijan in the successful implementation of the BAM, which is considered the largest infrastructure project of the Soviet Union.

“Heydar Aliyev considered the construction of the Baikal-Amur Mainline a great discovery of Siberia and the Far East. Because during this construction, a large mineral-rich area was put into operation in the zone of the railway line. Heydar Aliyev managed to turn the geographical territory of BAM into an important industrial base, socio-economic and cultural center in a short time,” said Rashad Nabiyev.

Igor Levitin, Assistant to the President of Russia, who participated in the event, said that the construction of main roads and railways in an area with a complex geological structure and harsh climate was a real example of heroism: "The construction of the BAM, which is the shortest route between the Pacific region and the countries of Europe, created favorable conditions for the effective use of natural resources of Siberia and the Far East. When Heydar Aliyev worked as a curator of the Baikal-Amur Mainline, construction work was significantly intensified, and the goals set were achieved in full."

The event was attended by the leadership of Azerbaijan Railways CJSC and Russian Railways OJSC, diplomats of the Azerbaijani Embassy in Russia, members of the Russian public association BAM and the Azerbaijani diaspora in Russia, as well as students.

Then the event continued with a concert program.
