The European Union has launched a new EU4AZERBAIJAN.EU website, which provides detailed information on 131 EU-funded projects active in Azerbaijan, Report informs.

In addition to detailed project information, the website features an interactive map showing the impact of select EU-supported interventions throughout the country. This feature will be expanded to more and more projects on a rolling basis.

The website will also provide regular news updates on projects, as well as a list of opportunities available via EU funding in both Azerbaijani and English.

Commenting on the launch of this project, Head of the EU delegation to Azerbaijan, Ambassador Kestutis Jankauskas, said that the purpose of Azerbaijan-EU cooperation is to use the experience of the EU countries for the sake of development.

The EU is implementing a large project to eliminate the consequences of the COVID pandemic, he noted, adding that the duration of the project will be 2-3 years.

Jankauskas said that from next week the EU would begin to discuss priorities for cooperation with Azerbaijan for the next seven years.

He expressed hope that by working together, the parties will become stronger.

The ambassador also noted that Azerbaijan and the EU are long-term partners since Azerbaijan’s independence, stressing the importance of both maintaining and deepening, and expanding these relations.

The EU and Azerbaijan together discussed and identified priority issues and are working together on their implementation, he added.

The sides have a very good partnership in the energy sector, Jankauskas said, noting that Azerbaijan is a strategic partner of the EU in this matter.

Besides, Azerbaijan and the EU have very close cooperation in education - the Erasmus Program, he added. On Feb. 17, the parties launched a new big project on vocational education, the ambassador said.

The EU also played a role in creating ASAN service (a state agency for public services to citizens of Azerbaijan), Jankauskas noted.
