Estonian FM: We commend Azerbaijani government for co-hosting “Heart of Asia” ministerial conference

Baku. 1 December. REPORT.AZ/ The Heart of Asia - Istanbul process is an important platform for enhanced regional cooperation with Afghanistan as its center.

Report was told by Estonian Foreign Minister Sven Mikser at the ceremony of the 7th Ministerial Conference "Security and Economic Connectivity towards a Strengthened Heart of Asia Region" within the framework of the Heart of Asia - Istanbul Process in Baku.

According to him, the annual ministerial meeting of the Heart of Asia - Istanbul Process is an important event to take stock of progress.

We have been encouraged by recent progress on regional economic cooperation, in particular the signing of the Lapis Lazuli Corridor Agreement between Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey. The EU has long-supported projects aiming at improving connectivity with and among its [neighbours and] partner countries.

“The Baku-Tbilisi-Kars Fall was that has just been launched shows that Central Asia and Afghanistan are just on the other side of the Caspian - and thus can be linked to Europe. We commend the Azerbaijani government for co-hosting the Heart of Asia Ministerial Conference this year”, Mikser added.
