Eastern Partnership program will be discussed at the EU meeting, Brussels

Baku. 14 December. REPORT.AZ/ Brussels hosts a meeting of the EU Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the 28 EU countries. Report informs, the meeting will be chaired by the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini.

During the meeting, the foreign ministers of EU countries will discuss cooperation with the countries of the Eastern Partnership (Azerbaijan, Georgia, Armenia, Ukraine, Moldova, Belarus).

Then, the Council to discuss counter-terrorism, following up on the Council conclusions adopted on 9 February 2015 and discussing their implementation. Over an informal lunch, ministers will have an exchange of views with the Turkish foreign minister, Mevlut Cavusoglu, discussing foreign policy challenges in the region.

UNSG Special Representative Martin Kobler is expected to share his views with ministers on the current political situation and the way ahead. Finally, the Council will discuss the political developments in Iraq, focusing on how the EU can support the domestic reform agenda and national reconciliation.
