Report/ Elchin Murad

Baku. 12 December. REPORT.AZ/ "The Commission on delimitation of borders between Georgia and Azerbaijan continues its acitivity," Azerbaijan's Deputy Foreign Minister Khalaf Khalafov told journalists.

Report informs that he said there was a break in the activity of the commission for some time: "This is due to the frequent change of the Georgian counterpart. The new deputy minister is already appointed and this issue was entrusted to him. I believe that we will start from the new year and we will first hold the consultations on a working level, then the meeting of the working groups and then the next session of the commission in the first quarter of 2019."

The deputy minister noted that the dynamics of the issue is on the rise: "This is an important issue for both states, because delimitation must be completed soon. The commissions have been functioning since 1996. The two thirds of the border line has been coordinated and documented between the commissions through that period. The works on the remaining third part continue."
