Baku is hosting the first meeting of the Council of Prosecutors General of the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States,
The high-level meeting is attended by the Prosecutors General of Turkey, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, Deputy Secretary-General of the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States, President of the International Association of Prosecutors and others.
Ambassadors of the participating countries to Azerbaijan, as well as the Hungarian ambassador to the country are also attending the event.
Opening the meeting, the Prosecutor General of Azerbaijan Kamran Aliyev stressed the importance of expanding mutual and fruitful cooperation between law enforcement agencies of the Turkic world. Kamran Aliyev said the Council, which will be established on the basis of friendship and brotherhood, will serve to respond to new, more dangerous threats to regional security, peace and stability, and will be an effective tool for developing existing potential and coordinating cooperation.
After that, Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev conveyed the greetings of President Ilham Aliyev to the meeting participants and congratulations on the establishment of the Council.
Then, a video address of the President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan was projected for the meeting participants.
Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Secretary-General of the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States Mirvokhid Azimov stressed the importance of the Council for the development of cooperation between Turkic-speaking countries, especially in the fight against crime and terrorism.
The President of the International Association of Prosecutors, Cheol-Kyu Hwang, invited as a guest to the event, stressed the importance of collaborative platforms in combating global and regional threats and said that Council members would have the opportunity to benefit actively from experience and information exchange.
The signing ceremony of the Statute of the Council of Prosecutors General of the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States took place after the opening speeches.
