Türkiye welcomes positive steps aimed at ensuring lasting peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia in the South Caucasus, Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz told a meeting of heads of government/Vice-President of the member states of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), Report informs.
Yilmaz expressed hope that the historic opportunity emerging in the region would be seized and that a peace agreement between the two countries would be signed.
He noted that a stable and cooperative environment in the South Caucasus would further strengthen ties across the Turkic world.
"We believe that new opportunities for cooperation in areas such as transport, energy, infrastructure, and communications will make a significant contribution to the prosperity of the Turkic world," he added.
