"Germany is committed to the conditions required by international norms in the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and wants the conflict to be resolved peacefully and within the territorial integrity of the countries," Wolfgang Schäuble, chairman of the German Bundestag (Parliament), told to Report Europe's bureau.

He noted that the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict means strengthening guarantees of stability in the region.

The Bundestag chairman also touched upon Germany's relations with Azerbaijan: “Azerbaijan is a strategic partner of Germany. At the same time, our parliamentary ties are strong. We can further strengthen these ties and the implementation of joint projects by increasing the number of mutual visits in the near future.”

The delegation led by the German Bundestag chairman will visit Azerbaijan early next year. During his visit Schäuble will hold a number of official meetings in Baku and attend events.
