Azerbaijani MP accuses Council of Europe of not exerting pressure on Armenia

Member of the Azerbaijani delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Ganira Pashayeva has accused the Council of Europe of not exerting pressure on Armenia.

Western European bureau of Report informs that the Azerbaijani MP stressed the importance of execution of decision made by European Court of Human Rights in member countries during the discussions within PACE on April 12.

"The former leadership of Armenia refused to comply with the decision of the European Court "Chiragov and Others v. Armenia". Unfortunately, the bodies of the Council of Europe did not take serious steps to implement this decision based on the application of internally displaced persons who cannot return to their homes. At the same time there was no serious pressure on the former leadership of Armenia for the execution of the decision.

Pashayeva said that PACE must not remain indifferent to the destruction of historical-cultural, religious monuments and cemeteries in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan, but raise its voice of protest and exert pressure on Armenia to put an end to this terrible situation.
