Azerbaijani, Japanese Foreign Ministers hold political consultations

Tokyo has hosted political consultations between the foreign ministres of Azerbaijan and Japan.

Report informs that the Azerbaijani side at the consultations was represented by Deputy Foreign Minister Ramiz Hasanov and the Japanese side was represented by Deputy Director General of the Bureau for European Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, special representative on Central Asia, Caucasus and GUAM, ambassador Hideki Uyama.

During the consultations, Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan noted that continuing conflicts in the South Caucasus, especially the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh, threaten stability and security in the region, informing the Japanese side of the steps taken to resolve the conflict.

Hideki Uyama noted that the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is very important for peace and stability in the Caucasus region and in this connection supports the mediatory efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs, wishing the peaceful resolution of the issue in accordance with the principles of international law.

The meeting also involved Azerbaijan's Charges d'Affairs in Japan Farid Talibov and chief of the HR Department at the Foreign Ministry Gursel Ismayilzade.
