Baku. 5 May. REPORT.AZ/ "Attention is paid to issues of multiculturalism in Azerbaijan. The last year we have declared a year of multiculturalism, this year is marked as the Year of Islamic Solidarity.

Therefore, we pay much attention to such forums."

Report informs, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov said, speaking at the first plenary session "Promoting dialogue and universal values: Tools for preventing violent extremism "within the framework of the IV World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue taking place in Baku today.

"Multiculturalism and tolerance are a long tradition of our country, which strengthens and consolidates our society", Foreign Minister noted.

"We are concerned about the growth of violent extremism and separatism in the world," Mammadyarov said.

He recalled that Azerbaijan was subjected to terrible terrorist attacks. "Without joint cooperation, it will be difficult to fight terrorism”, he added.

"Extremism is sometimes at the center of conflicts. If we are talking about conflicts, we should talk about migrants and refugees who are being targeted by radical circles.
