Azerbaijani FM: Post-conflict period opens many opportunities for Caucasus

The post-conflict period opens up many opportunities for both Azerbaijan and the region as a whole, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said at the opening of the Week of Diplomacy "Peace and reconstruction efforts of Azerbaijan in the post-conflict phase" at ADA University, Report informs.

According to the Foreign Minister, almost immediately after the end of the 44-day war, Azerbaijan offered Armenia work on a peace treaty.

Baku also offered Yerevan to normalize relations and resume transport communications, thus moving on to long-term peace in the region.

In 2020, under the leadership of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, President Ilham Aliyev, Azerbaijan was able to liberate its lands, which had been under occupation for 30 years, Bayramov said.

"We are a very happy people because we could see such a significant historical moment," he added.

At the same time, Jeyhun Bayramov noted that Azerbaijan must look to the future, but this does not mean that history should be forgotten.

"We must speak clearly about the crimes committed in the liberated territories during the 30 years of occupation," the Foreign Minister stressed.
