Today, Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov received the newly appointed Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Azerbaijan Seyed Abbas Mousavi, Report says.
The Iranian Ambassador presented a copy of his credentials to Jeyhun Bayramov.
The Minister congratulated Mousavi on his appointment as Ambassador to Azerbaijan and wished him success in his future endeavors.
The sides discussed the development of friendly, fraternal, and cooperative relations between the two countries in the form of mutual respect and support, based on deep historical roots, and exchanged views on effective implementation of the cooperation plan.
The Ambassador conveyed the sincere wishes and congratulations of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran, Mohammad Javad Zarif, to Minister Jeyhun Bayramov. The Iranian Ambassador stressed that there is great potential for deepening bilateral relations.
Noting the ongoing Armenian aggression against Azerbaijan, the Minister thanked Iran for always supporting Azerbaijan's fair position on the settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, based on the norms and principles of international law.
In turn, Seyed Abbas Mousavi stressed that Iran supports Azerbaijan's position on the conflict and the occupied territories of Azerbaijan, and his country is always ready to assist in resolving the dispute.
The sides also discussed other issues of mutual interest.
