Baku. 25 September. REPORT.AZ/ "Armenia's attempts on escalation of tensions along the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, on the background of the beginning of the 70th session of the UN General Assembly, a serious discussion of peace and security issues in its framework, as well as negotiations in New York of the Foreign Ministers of both countries to resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict with the mediation of the OSCE Minsk Group are provocative."
Report informs, it was stated by the spokesperson of the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan Hikmat Hajiyev.
"The aim of such provocations is obstruction of advancing the process of negotiations", - said Hajiyev.
According to him, the Armed Forces of Armenia, breaking the obligations of international humanitarian law, continue to deliberately target civilians.
"As a result of the latest provocation of Armenia, on September 23 one civilian, resident of the Kemerli village of Kazakh district Esmira Dursunova was injured" - said the spokesman.
Hajiyev said that Armenia intentionally places the weapon emplacements in and around civilian objects, and when they open fire on positions of Azerbaijani Armed Forces, they use inhumane tactics, trying to endanger civilians in the firefight. He added that the use of such tactics is inherent to terrorists, it is primarily a war crime against the citizens of Armenia.
"Azerbaijan remains committed to the undertaken obligations under the Geneva Convention and additional protocols", - said the representative of the Foreign Ministry.
He pointed out, that the protection of civilians, care and assistance to women, children and the elderly is a highly moral value inherent to the Azerbaijani people and the Azerbaijani soldiers.
"The ongoing Armenian policy of ethnic cleansing, perpetration of the Khojaly genocide, the use of civilians in Azerbaijan as targets on the contact line and Armenia-Azerbaijan border, and even the use of their own citizens as a military shield and objects of provocation is part of the continuing war crimes and crimes against Humanity of the military and political leadership of Armenia ", - said Hajiyev.
