Azerbaijan’s Honorary Consul in Kharkiv Afgan Salmanov visited Okhtyrka, which is declared a hero city, the Honorary Consulate of Azerbaijan in Kharkiv told Report.
As part of the visit, the consul visited the Okhtyrka Museum of Local Lore, where the personal belongings of Museyib Bagirov, who showed courage during the liberation of Okhtyrka during WWII, are kept. During the hostilities in Ukraine, the museum building was seriously damaged, and the issue of its complete dismantling is being discussed.
Afgan Salmanov, in a conversation with the mayor of the city, Pavel Kuzmenko, discussed the issues of the safety of the personal belongings of Museyib Bagirov and exhibits of the Azerbaijani corner. An agreement was reached on the temporary storage of exhibits in another museum.
Thanking the government of Azerbaijan for the humanitarian assistance provided, Pavel Kuzmenko expressed interest in cooperation with our country in the restoration of Okhtyrka. In particular, broad opportunities for cooperation in the oil and gas sector were emphasized.
During the visit, the honorary consul of Azerbaijan also inquired about the condition of compatriots living in Okhtyrka.
