Azerbaijani Ambassador in Ukraine: Tens of Azerbaijanis missing over past two years

Kiev. 6 October. REPORT.AZ/ Embassy of Azerbaijan in Ukraine intends to strengthen its position and work with the local Azerbaijani diaspora and its regional offices. Newly appointed Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Ukraine Azer Khudiyev told the Ukrainian Bureau of Report.

"Ambassador of Azerbaijan in Ukraine was not appointed nearly one and a half years, and coordination with the Embassy a bit was broken. I think that now we will strengthen the Embassy of the position and work with the local Azerbaijani diaspora, its regional offices and will establish a clear line of interaction. I would like also to note that, as the diaspora is large, active and united here, together we can overcome the difficulties", Azer Khudiyev told Report.

Also, according to the ambassador, visit of the official delegations from Azerbaijan to Ukraine are not planned in the near future. The reason for this is the forthcoming work of the Azerbaijani Embassy on previously signed agreements:

"Recently, President of Ukraine Poroshenko was on an official visit to Baku, where the meetins have discussed many issues, including diversification of energy resources from Azerbaijan. It was agreed to cooperate on the development of agriculture and other fields between the two countries. Now, according to these documents, the experts involved in the implementation of these projects. When we will reach a full implementation, then of course will be ready to invite the official dignitaries from Azerbaijan to Ukraine", he said.

According to the ambassador, it is necessary to recognize the fact that over the past two years, crime situation has worsened in Ukraine: "Over the past two years, tens of Azerbaijanis were kidnapped, some of them released in return for lot of money, some were killed. Unfortunately, the crimes were not disclosed. We are concerned primarily of inaction and lack of the necessary measures. We still have the Azerbaijanis, who still missing and no information yet about preparing a special operation to release them."

The ambassador noted that in coming days, will be hold a meeting of representatives of Azerbaijani Embassy with Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yuriy Lutsenko in regard with crimes against Azerbaijanis: "That is to say, we see the reaction of the Ukrainian authorities on appeals of Azerbaijanis", A. Khudiyev emphasized.
