Preparations are underway to evacuate 178 Azerbaijani nationals stranded in Georgia by border closures due to coronavirus pandemic.

The citizens will today pass COVID-19 tests in the Azerbaijani Embassy in Georgia, Report’s local bureau says.

The people who test negative for the virus will be taken to Red Bridge border checkpoint. The majority of the evacuees are elderly, women, and teenagers.

The results of the PCR testing will be valid for 48 hours, according to the embassy. Upon entry to Azerbaijan, the citizens will be allowed to move freely for one day despite the special quarantine regime in the country.

So far, Azerbaijan has brought back more than 300 nationals through Georgia.
