"On April 24, the Colorado Senate with 35 members adopted a resolution on the so-called Armenian genocide. In this resolution, Armenia and the so-called "artsakh" are referred to by Turkey and Azerbaijan as a "blockade" and suppose that the cultural genocide of the Armenian "Christian heritage" is allegedly committed in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
Spokesperson for the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry Leyla Abdullayeva told Report.
We would like to note that some media representatives are trying to provide a link to the separatist structure created in our occupied territories as recognition of this structure. We would like to emphasize that the text of this resolution does not speak of this, and in general, the recognition of any structure as "state" is beyond the powers of the state legislature.
We would also like to point out that such symbolic resolutions that do not have practical and legal significance can be adopted in a short procedure as it does not produce any results for the states.
The Azerbaijani Embassy in the United States sent a letter to the leadership of the Senate of Colorado and all members calling for the elimination of the distortions and impropriety in relation to our country and holding corresponding meetings planned, ” the Foreign Ministry representative said.
