Azerbaijan, Netherlands hold first consular consultations

The first meeting on consular affairs between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands was held in The Hague.
Report informs, citing Azerbaijan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, that during the meeting, the parties discussed a number of issues of mutual interest, including the current state and future prospects of cooperation in the consular sphere, visa policy, as well as the expansion of cooperation in the fields of labor, internal affairs, justice, and legal assistance.
The Azerbaijani delegation was headed by Emil Safarov, Head of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, while the Dutch delegation was led by Jeroen Roodenburg, Head of the Consular and Visa Affairs Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
During the talks, the sides agreed to establish a bilateral cooperation mechanism aimed at further developing ties in the consular field.
In addition, during a meeting between the Azerbaijani delegation and representatives of the Ministry of Justice and Security of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, discussions were held on migration, readmission, and other related issues, and the parties exchanged experiences in these areas.
On June 23, the delegation held meetings with the heads of the offices of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
On June 24, the delegation was received by Christophe Bernasconi, Secretary General of the Hague Conference on Private International Law (HCCH). During the meeting, the Azerbaijani delegation was briefed on the organization's activities, and the sides exchanged views on the implementation of HCCH international conventions to which Azerbaijan has acceded, as well as on cooperation between the organization and its member states.
