Azerbaijani MFA: Last year features rise of international tension and uncertainty

Report informs, summary released by Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan (MFA) emphasizing results of year 2016 says.

Summary states, extended controversies among international powers as main reason hindering establishment of international peace and security, prevention of global financial, economic and political crisis, implementation of effective measures against terrorism and extremism, elimination of conflicts between civilizations and confessions.

“Marking 25th anniversary of independence with its achievements in all fields, our country strengthened its position as regional leader, intensified efforts towards ensuring balance of interest in our region, encouraging friendly neighborhood relations and developing mutually beneficial cooperation. As it was stated by President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev at the opening ceremony of 5th International Humanitarian Forum in Baku, “reasonable economic policy, peace in the society, stability, good relations with neighbors and international initiatives today characterize Azerbaijan as country of stability and development in the world”.

It was noted that the main purpose of the ministry's activities was intensification of international efforts towards settlement of Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict within principles of sovereignty, territorial integrity and internationally recognized borders of Azerbaijan: “The year 2016 featured decisions supporting our goals by number of reliable international organizations.”
