Azerbaijan, Lithuania hold political consultations in Vilnius

Another round of political consultations between the Foreign Ministries of Azerbaijan and Lithuania was held in Vilnius, Report informs, citing Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry.

The Azerbaijani delegation was led by Deputy Foreign Minister Fariz Rzayev, while the Lithuanian side was headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Audra Plepyte.

During the consultations, the sides discussed in detail the current state of political relations between Azerbaijan and Lithuania and stressed the importance of maintaining regular mutual visits at various levels.

The sides also reviewed opportunities to expand cooperation in trade, the economy, humanitarian affairs, science and education. They also assessed prospects for future cooperation in the context of strategic energy and transport projects implemented at Azerbaijan's initiative and with its participation.

The parties then exchanged views on existing plans to expand the treaty and legal framework.

Attention was also paid to continuing relations and cooperation within international organizations, as well as mutual support for candidacies.

The sides exchanged views on the current situation in the region, the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, as well as large-scale restoration and reconstruction work and mine clearance efforts in Azerbaijan's liberated territories.

They also discussed other regional and international issues of mutual interest.

As part of the visit, Rzayev also held working meetings with other Lithuanian officials and took part in roundtable discussions at a research center.
