Azerbaijan holds special place in Turkic world, Tokayev says

Azerbaijan occupies a special place in the Turkic world, Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has said in a message addressed to participants of the Turkic World Week dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the First Turkology Congress in Baku.

According to Report, Tokayev emphasized the historical importance of the 1926 congress.

He said the First Turkology Congress was a significant historical event for the entire Turkic world and became a symbol of the unwavering unity of fraternal countries.

"The ideas put forward at that congress have not lost their relevance today," the message read.

The address was delivered by Tokayev's adviser Malik Atarbayev.
