The first consular consultations between Azerbaijan and Slovakia were held in Baku, Report informs, citing Azerbaijan’s MFA.

As noted, the Azerbaijani delegation was led by Emil Safarov, head of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, while the Slovak delegation was headed by Martin Barton, director of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of Slovakia.

The consultations were also attended by staff members of relevant departments of both countries' foreign affairs bodies, an official from Azerbaijan's State Migration Service, and representatives of the Slovak Embassy in Azerbaijan.

During the consultations, the current state and prospects of relations between the two countries in the consular field, and opportunities for expanding the bilateral legal framework in this area were discussed.

Additionally, expanding cooperation in providing effective and prompt consular assistance to protect the rights and legitimate interests of citizens of both countries were addressed, and views were exchanged regarding the visa policies of Slovakia and Azerbaijan.

A number of proposals were discussed for developing cooperation between Azerbaijan and Slovakia in areas such as migration, labor, social protection, etc., and agreement was expressed on taking necessary measures to expand relations in relevant directions.
