Modern cities remain insufficiently focused on people's everyday needs, which particularly negatively impacts women, children, and vulnerable groups, Anna König Jerlmyr, former mayor of Stockholm and CEO of the Swedish charity Arwidsson Foundation, said at a panel discussion at WUF13, Report informs.
She stated that this is why the "15-minute city" is particularly important, as it requires people to be able to reach their daily needs-work, education, healthcare, and public spaces-in the shortest possible time.
Anna König Jerlmyr emphasized that this approach helps reduce inequality, strengthen local economies, and improve safety and inclusiveness, especially for women, children, and the elderly.
