Aleksey Overchuk: "Azerbaijan will benefit more if it enjoys status in EEU"

"If Azerbaijan gains a status in the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU), it will benefit more from cooperation," Report says that Russian Deputy Prime Minister Aleksey Overchuk told reporters.

He said that the Eurasian Economic Union is not so popular in Azerbaijan: “Some 30-40% of the population is unaware of such an organization. That is why there is a need to promote it more widely."

According to him, if Azerbaijan gains status in the Eurasian Economic Union, it can participate in the activities of working bodies, obtain documents, be aware of the internal affairs of the organization: "Of course, being more aware boils down to being able to benefit more from cooperation."

The first President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev recently proposed to give status to Azerbaijan in the Eurasian Economic Union.
