Albania sets priorities for the period of its OSCE chairmanship

Conflict resolution will be at the top of the agenda during the Albanian presidency of the OSCE, the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Albania, Edi Rama, said at the 26th meeting of the OSCE Ministerial Council.

According to Report, Rama also stressed that his country's chairmanship in the organization will be based on three important aspects: “First, we intend to focus on core values. Honest cooperation. The range of our political responsibilities is extremely important for trust in the OSCE, as the largest regional security organization. The Helsinki peace formula for Europe is simple and effective - respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as human rights and fundamental freedoms. If we want to ensure peace and security in Europe, we need to assume full responsibility for the performance of our duties.

"Another aspect is to distinguish between the prevention of escalation of conflicts, monitoring missions, and support for reforms. Improving the security and welfare of our citizens.

Third is the strengthening of a dialogue, because this is the only way to restore confidence between us. An important issue for this is the promotion of confidence-building measures and the full use of a structured dialogue," said the Prime Minister of Albania.

The OSCE chairmanship will pass from Slovakia to Albania on January 1, 2020.
